ALKI area: June 12-16, 2007 there was a very unusually LOW tide that went waaaaaay out, the
ancient pilings from Luna Park were visible from the Anchor (Duwamish Head). I walked along the super low tide and photographed
the before/after. There was some really cool vantage points that were exposed and i found some really interesting colors of
sea glass!! many jellyfish of varying sizes and gooey centers, lots of translucent crab legs that weren't attached to the
bodies. saw seagulls and herons yanking flounders out of the two inches of standing water, infact i almost stepped on
the flounders! i followed a couple of seagulls so i could see how they dig the clams out of the beach- nobody
was with me so i dont have a photo of me out there. it was so cool.

Looking southwards from the north cove,
Seals, sand dollars, starfish, squid-lucky night out.
This squid was just laying there on the rocks.
its legs still gripping a rock, head towards land.
The beach at dark is the most interesting, as it becomes an almost alien-like landscape. Low tide
times after mid-night are even better. Stillness, with only the sound of your footsteps coupled with the quiet murmur of waves
and the cries of shorebirds. If you are lucky, the distant hollering of seals on the pilings in the Duwamish area to the south.
We rescued this starfish from its near amputation
by a hungry seagull, the birds were pecking on something so we went to see what the fuss was about. The birds flew away
and left the starfish upside-down and on the rocks. I picked it up and tossed
it back into deeper water.
" Alien Tendrils "
slimy and crawling with bugs.

This large blob was a feast for the seagulls! Of
course they ate the center and left the edges... What's this thing supposed to look like when it's in the water? If
u have a photo of this gelatinous blob when its alive, send a link in the guestbook!
